Sapporo Japan

Sapporo Japan, capital of Hokkaido province, is currently on the top of my list of places to visit in Japan. I am a huge fan of Japan, regardless of the weather, time of year, or anything else, but Sapporo Japan seems to be about perfect in every respect for my fiance and I (because, obviously, I want to go with him, as I'm intending on marrying him and spending the rest of my life with him, so I want him to like wherever we go almost as much as I do). Weather, cityscape, food, festivals, everything.

Sapporo Japan climate and weather

So first off there's the weather. I love the idea of visiting Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, but all of those places are much hotter over the summer than Sapporo Japan. Over the winter, and even the spring and fall, the south of Japan (like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, etc) would probably be the better climate, but since my fiance is taking a career that would give him summers off, that is the time of year I am most concerned about for holidays and vacation-taking. However, even in the winter I would be tempted to go to Sapporo Japan to see the Sapporo Snow Festival.

Food in Sapporo Japan

And then there's the food. I love food. I love Japanese food. I love to try just about any food (except meat; I'm a vegetarian). My fiance, however, while he has made a concerted effort to be open-minded for my sake (which I do greatly appreciate) he still has a much more selective palate than I do. But Sapporo Japan would be able to satisfy even him. First off, he loves ramen, and Sapporo Japan is practically the unofficial ramen capital of Japan. Second, that man loves dessert (though he can be picky even about that, since he doesn't like things too sweet) and since Sapporo Japan is one of the few places in Japan that has dairy, it is also one of the few places that has desserts.

And a million other things about Sapporo Japan

Like how it's set up in more rectangular blocks western style as opposed to the more confused convoluted twisted random style of the non-western cityscape. As much as I ordinarily prefer for non-western countries to remain non-western, this is one area in which I am willing to compromise. Or like how there are many onsen (hot springs) in the Sapporo Japan area. Plus, it's freakin' Japan, 'nuff said, right?
